Should I buy a Bali data eSIM in advance or get a Telkomsel SIM card at the airport?
Since I have an iPhone, I was thinking about buying an eSIM in Korea beforehand, but I heard that getting a Telkomsel SIM at Ngurah Rai Airport is cheaper. I use a lot of data, so I'm curious if the signal works well in Ubud too. What did you all use?
I recommend preparing an eSIM before you leave Korea. While airport SIMs might be cheaper, there are several practical advantages to consider. First, you can use data immediately after arriving at the airport. You'll need Grab calls, Google Maps searches, and accommodation confirmations right away, but if you arrive late at night or early in the morning, the SIM activation counter might be closed. With an eSIM, you can install it in less than 5 minutes just by scanning a QR code as soon as you land. Second, the signal reception is more stable. According to reference materials, there are accounts of people experiencing poor signal with SIMs purchased directly at the airport. eSIMs prepared in Korea are known to work better among travelers. Third, signal is decent even in areas like Ubud. If you use a lot of data, I recommend Telkomsel's unlimited data plan (500MB daily unlimited). It's reliable even for long stays or heavy usage. If you purchase through an app like Maltalk beforehand, you can pick it up at Korean airports, and the price is reasonable. Considering convenience and reliability, preparing an eSIM in advance seems like the smarter choice.
